Game week 9 came fast and forward. Hon Karuhanga graced us with a visit. The pressure was not only at the bottom but also at the top where teams were vying to be the final destination for Jovoc League Season2's most coveted Vollinger Trophy. Defenders were happy to frustrate golden boot chasers and strikers were happy to put a spanner in the work of golden glove chasers. Different ambitions but same energy levels cut across. Game week 9 was put at standstill last week because of rain. The games proceeded and I was on ground to observe as the game week 9 drama unfolded.

When the season started before kick-off, with every team level on points, no one thought of relegation but being crowned champions but as the season is almost climaxing, we know who the title contenders, dark horses, title pretenders, party spoilers, and relegation favourites are. The early Sunday morning showers sent a false alarm to many league players and many were on conference calls to confirm whether they were kick-off and some teams paid a heavy price. This was how #gwk8 drama unfolded at Kanyanya.

The Avarc kit makers are slowly infiltrating the JOVOC league. First, it was with Abukyariire but #gwk7 was for Legends to grab all the headlines and bragging rights. The jersey launch that came with a video skit directed by Emma Kansiime and man of all seasons Naku showcasing some samurai and Kung Fu acting skills left us in awe - JOVOC has talent.

Abezekyenda are lonely invincibly at the top. Abakachai are invincibly blowing hot like steam from hot tea to get them. Abaleni are like an electric switch with on and off performances. One team might have their solutions.

Sunday Oct 2nd was a significant day as it marked our league's mid-season. It was graced by our guest of honor, Mr Francis Mpongano, our former History teacher and how he shook hands and embraced the Jovoc OBs in camp gave me a clear picture how Dingiswayo welcomed Shaka Zulu in Zulu empire as per his history notes he always dictated from one generation to another.

Sam Mukuru is our Jovoc League Game Week 4 Player of the Week. He rolled back the years with a Xavi-esque midfield master class performance for Abakawu as he helped them to pick 6 out of six points to propel them in top 6 conversation. He scored in the 2-0 cowboys demolition of Ababombo and assisted Peterson's suckerpunch goal in a smash and grab win against Abomutumba. I sat briefly with him for an interview.
